Robert Lee Freeman, 79, of East Moline, died Friday, April 27, 2012, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Visitation will be Monday, April 30, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary Ltd., East Moline, with graveside services on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, 9 a.m., meeting at the funeral home by 8:20 a.m., at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island. The Moline American Legion No. 246 will conduct military rites. The Rev. Ron Philpot will officiate.
Robert was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Spadra, Ark., the son of L. B. and Murel (Patten) Freeman. He was a machine operator for Farmall and also worked at Selective Service. He married Anna L. Wood, Jan. 1, 1956, and she preceded him in death July 21, 2000. Robert was in the Air Force, serving eight years, and a Korean War Veteran. He enjoyed bike riding and fishing and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Keith Freeman, Orlando, Fla., daughters, La Rhonda (Roy) Tracy, East Moline, Cindy Welge-Snare (Bob Snare), Peoria, Monica (Wroy) Kizer, Silvis; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Weda Davis and Wanda Freeman, both of Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister, Wilma Barber.
