Press release submitted by Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau

Quad Cities – Davenport, Iowa, for the eighth year in a row, played host to the Iowa State Poolplayers Association's (ISPA) 18th Annual State 8-ball and 9-ball championships on April 11-15, 2012. There were 2,750 total entries in singles and team play participating in the 22 different events at the tournament in Davenport.

The event was held once again in the RiverCenter/Adler Theatre where 160 Valley Pool Tables were set up for the five day event. Tables were provided and match scheduling was directed by High Country Promotions from Las Vegas, Nevada.

On the final day of the event, the ISPA teamed up with the Billiard Education Foundation to invite junior players from around the Midwest to compete. These junior players played for college scholarships from the ISPA and custom-made cues from Diveney custom cues. Along with the prizes, the top two players from each division qualified for the junior national tournament that will be held in July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at Romines High Pockets.

The Iowa State Poolplayers Association sanctions players throughout the state of Iowa and its bordering towns with 32 league operators. These combined cities make this event the largest State association ran event in the USA. The cities involved are Altoona, Ames, Burlington, Camden, Campus town, Cedar Rapids, Charles City, Coralville, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Delaware County, Fort Dodge, Fort Madison, Ryan, Manchester, Earlville, Des Moines, Clinton, Dubuque, Jackson County, Washburn, Iowa City, Keokuk, North Liberty, Monmouth, Muscatine, New Virginia, Mason City, Hudson, Cresco, Leon, Maquoketa, Osceola, and Waterloo.

The full tournament results will be available soon on the website at http://ispa.in2pool.com/
