The Two Rivers YMCA received a $3,500.00 grant from the Rock Island Community Foundation that will help support the Y-Solutions program at three Rock Island Schools.

The Y-Solutions program is a no-nonsense mentoring program that helps at-risk young people develop positive vision and goals for the futures. The program is based on developing the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Students are held accountable by their mentors for school attendance, behavior and academic improvement. "The Y-Solutions program has helped keep very at-risk young men in school," says Amy Johnson, Senior Program Director at the Two Rivers YMCA. "The program teaches the core values that help build character and self-esteem and provides students with the tools they need to be successful in life.

After high school graduation, many Y-Solutions program participants go on to higher education, advanced vocational school or military service.

This program is fully funded through community support.

The Rock Island Community Foundation is a community organization that was formed in 1967 for the purpose of promoting the civic needs and general welfare of the City of Rock Island and the surrounding areas.
