Press release submitted by Angela Campbell, PR/programming coordinator, Davenport Public Library.

Have you seen "Who Do You Think You Are" on NBC, or "Faces of America" on PBS and asked yourself, "Who am I? Who are my ancestors?" Well, now you have a chance to find out! Two of the Quad Cities finest genealogists are teaming up to offer a "Beginning Genealogy Workshop" at the Davenport Public Library. Join us in the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center at the Main Library (321 Main Street) on Saturday, March 13, from 8:30 – 4:00 p.m. to learn genealogy basics from Amy Groskopf, City Archivist and Special Collections Manager, and Donna McNamara, who has served as librarian, trainer, instructor, and director of the Family History Center in Davenport.

Participants will learn how to get started with their genealogy research, including how to search vital records, federal and state census records, and newspaper archives. Information will also be provided about how to use the Family History Center, Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center, and Scott County Genealogical Society for additional research. Maybe you're related to someone famous!

For just $10 per person, this workshop will inspire you to keep up with your genealogy research. Seating is limited, and registration is required. Payment is due at the time of registration. Call 563-326-7902 to learn more about this exciting event, or visit www.qcmemory.org.
