BETTENDORF -- At 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Bettendorf Public Library, the 179th anniversary of the birth of Emily Dickinson will be commemorated with a discussion of her poetry of mountains and volcanoes.

Dickinson scholar and St. Ambrose University English Professor Bea Jacobson will lead the discussion in the Program Room after a short reading in the Library's Emily Dickinson Garden. Copies of the poems are available ahead of time at the Library or can be mailed or emailed to participants. Light refreshments will be available.
