Davenport Community Schools Thanksgiving food drive
Press release submitted by Davenport Community Schools
Thanksgiving basket packing and delivering
In only its second year, the Davenport Community Schools food drive will feed 170 families with boxes full of seasonal and nutritious food, including a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.
This undertaking is done entirely through DSCD staff who volunteer their time, donate money, obtain donations and even lend their cars for delivery of the Thanksgiving boxes. The families receiving their Thanksgiving boxes are identified by guidance counselors through the school who work directly with families that have a demonstrated need and to be discreet in getting the food to the families.
Tuesday, November 24 from 9:00am – 11:30am, a group of volunteers will meet in the parking lot directly south of the Administration Service Center (1606 Brady Street) to assemble the Thanksgiving Boxes. Further, some volunteers with trucks will assist in delivering the boxes to the buildings.
We hope you will help us share this wonderful holiday story of giving with the community.
