BHS to Host MAC AP Conference
Bettendorf High School will host the second annual MAC AP conference, Tuesday, November 10. During the event, Mississippi Athletic Conference high school Advanced Placement teachers meet and collaborate.
"The MAC AP conference provides an opportunity for teachers to learn from each other and share some of the positive instructional strategies they use within their classroom every single day," said Jimmy Casas, Bettendorf High School Principal. "The agenda is simple and meant to give teachers time to dialogue with one another and hopefully to build relationships around the conference that could help and support their continued growth as a teacher."
The event will consist of a lunch and round table discussion, a presentation about the AP experience from Nick Colangelo – Director, Belin Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, and then break out sessions for more dialogue.
The MAC Conference is a high school athletic conference including Bettendorf, Burlington, Clinton, Davenport, Muscatine, North Scott, and Pleasant Valley schools.
The AP was developed by the College Board and is one of the most successful and respected academic programs in the nation. The exams provide a uniform standard of academic accomplishment across geography, economic status, ethnicity, and school size. AP examinations cover 37 subject areas.
