American Red Cross offers babysitting training Nov. 14 in Iowa

The American Red Cross of the Quad Cities Area is holding a Babysitting Training for students 11-15 year-olds who want to become responsible babysitters. Babysitters will learn how to keep children safe inside and outside of the home, how to choose age-appropriate toys and games, and how to handle emergencies. Class participants should bring a sack lunch.

WHEN: Saturday November 14, 2009, 9:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. at Eldridge Library: 200 North 6th Ave, Eldridge; and Saturday November 14, 2009, 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Bettendorf Library: 2950 Learning Campus Drive, Bettendorf

HOW: Participants must be at least 10 years old and will receive a Red Cross certificate after

completing the course. Cost is $40: Includes Babysitter's Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide, and CD-Rom. For more information or to register for class, please call (309) 743-2166.

WHY: The American Red Cross Babysitting course teaches babysitters valuable lifesaving skills and prepares them for the responsibility of babysitting.
