Press release submitted by Dave Clifford, US / THEM group The Mars Volta sibling band Zechs Marquise is coming to town Nov. 16 at Mixtapes, 830 15th Street, East Moline (w/ Free Moral Agents) Zechs Marquise features The Mars Volta multi-instrumentalist Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez along with his bassist brother Marfred Rodriguez-Lopez. The prog-rock groove quartet releases its 15-track debut album Our Delicate Stranded Nightmare in August via Rodriguez Lopez Productions (the imprint helmed by their older sibling Omar Rodriguez Lopez.) Also on the tour is Free Moral Agents, featuring Mars Volta's Grammy Award winning keyboardist, Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. Yes, it's a family affair, and you can hear elements of the sound that's made the Mars Volta Grammy-winning stars. But, Zechs Marquise also delves into deeper psychedelic terrain trodden by Goblin, Maggot Brain-era Funkadelic and kraut-rock mind-melders Magma.
