Leaf bags also available at libraries

ROCK ISLAND -- Two additional sites are now offering free leaf bags:

u 30/31 Branch Library at 3059 30th St. from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

u Southwest Branch Library at 9010 Ridgewood Road, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The city is providing free leaf collection through Dec. 4. Customers must place the leaves in approved paper yard waste bags, place the bags at the normal refuse collection location on the regular refuse collection day, and put nothing other than leaves in the bags.

Free bags also are available at City Hall and the Public Works Department, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Community Caring Conference, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Martin Luther King Center, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; South Rock Island Township Office (back of the building), 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.; and Sunset Marina, 9 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. All times are Monday through Friday.

Sunset Marina also is open 9 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Residents will be given a maximum of 10 bags per day and must provide proof of Rock Island

residence through a photo ID or official mail.
