Boys and Girls Club Board member receives National recognition
Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley (BGCMV) Board Member Grace Johnson received The Jeremiah Milbank Gold Medallion Award on October 16 at the Boys and Girls Club Midwest Leadership Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Milbank Award was created to honor individuals who have rendered outstanding and extraordinary service to the Boys and Girls Club movement on a National level. Only one such medallion is awarded annually in each region.
Ms. Johnson was recognized for her more than 20 years of service and leadership in developing the Boys and Girls Club Illinois Alliance as well as her strong commitment to BGCMV. During her tenure as BGCMV Board President in 2000-01, the organization successfully completed a
$1 million capital campaign to renovate the current Moline Club in the Floreciente neighborhood—tripling its capacity to serve children.
She also currently serves as President of the Iowa Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs and continues in a significant role both locally and nationally on behalf of the movement.
BGCMV was established in 1994 and provides after school programming to more than 2,300 youth annually in six Quad City area locations. Our mission is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to strive for lives as responsible and productive citizens.
