Stuck in traffic: Wayward driver lands in wet cement
|
When a motorist drove into a patch of wet cement Tuesday morning on 23rd Street in Moline, construction workers at the site were not completely surprised. Langman Construction project foreman Mike Wilkinson said the mishap was the third time a wayward driver has spoiled a patch of wet cement on that stretch of the street project. Tuesday's unlucky driver was Jim Burke, who drove his car into freshly poured wet cement on 23rd Street near the intersection of 6th Avenue. Langman Construction employees Clint Anderson, Dave Zeitz and Tom Slayden promptly pushed Mr. Burke's car out of the cement. Mr. Burke said he got confused as to which southbound lane was open on 23rd Street after he turned left off 5th Avenue. Once he realized his mistake. he tried to cut across the construction zone and didn't see the freshly poured cement. Although not issued a citation, Mr. Burke was encouraged get his car washed as soon as possible before the cement began to dry. Langman employees quickly repaired the cement.
