Saturday fundraiser set for young leukemia victim

DAVENPORT-- The Roosevelt Boys &Girls Club is holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser for Sergio Acuahuitl from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Roosevelt Community Center, 1220 Minnie Ave., Davenport.

Sergio, 12, thought he had beaten acute myeloid leukemia earlier this year, but it has returned. He will undergo a bone marrow transplant in the next couple of months.

Cost is $5 per plate for adults, $3 for kids, $1 per extra drink. Aplate includes pancakes, sausage and choice of coffee, juice or milk.

Sergio is active in the community and has shared what he's learned from his health fight with others.

His parents are Melissa Wagner and Shawn Wogomon.
