Whiteside sex offenders must attend Halloween meeting
Whiteside County Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi has announced that all registered sex offenders who live in the county and are on probation or conditional discharge must attend an informational meeting 4:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Whiteside County Sheriff's Department in Morrison.
It is unlawful for sex offenders on probation, parole or conditional discharge to participate in holiday events such as handing out candy on Halloween. The program will ensure all registered sex offenders are in compliance with the laws concerning sex offender rules, regulations and registration.
Called Project Safe Halloween, the event will be held during the designated trick or treat hours by Whiteside County law enforcement agencies. It is conducted by the sheriff's department in cooperation with Whiteside County Court Services and the Illinois State Police District 1.
