Announcement is made of the engagement of Heather Hammond and Jonathan Shappard, both of Rock Island. She is the daughter of Gary and Pam Hammond, Rock Island. He is the son of Brent and Nancy Shappard, Port Byron.

The couple will be married Saturday, Oct. 24, at Heritage Wesleyan Church, Rock Island. Relatives and friends are invited to the 2 p.m. ceremony, and to the 5 p.m. reception at Heritage Hall, Rock Island Arsenal.

Heather is attending Black Hawk College. She is employed as a preschool teacher in Rock Island.

Jonathan graduated from United Township High School. He is employed by the city of Rock Island.
