Quad-Citians are invited to join or cheer on world-class runner Reza Baluchi as he runs through the Quad-Cities Wednesday during his attempt to set a new world record time for running coast to coast.

Mr. Baluchi left Los Angeles Aug. 16. He is running 80 to 100 miles a day.

Mr. Baluchi and any interested runners are scheduled to meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the fountain at the bottom of Main Street at River Drive, Davenport. They will run to Brady Street, north up Brady Street, passing Palmer College, then turn left onto 12th Street, ending at Central High School. The group then will go back down toward the river, and Mr. Baluchi will leave Davenport along the river route.

Spectators also are encouraged to cheer him on along the route.

"I love running, it allows me to reach out to people around the world and help everyone unite for a common cause: peace," said Mr. Baluchi. "Running is my release, and I look forward to running with area residents."

In 2003 Mr. Baluchi ran from Los Angeles to Ground Zero in New York City in a run he dubbed Run 4 Peace, a journey that covered 3,720 miles over 124 days. In 2008, Mr. Baluchi ran the perimeter of the United States (11,500 miles) in 202 days, averaging 57 miles per day. For more information visit www.runwithreza.org.
