Davenport tea party planned to protest federal bailouts
DAVENPORT – People opposed to the the billions of dollars spent in the stimulus bill and on bailed-out banks are fighting back with tea party protests all across the nation.
Jumping on the grassroots initiative, Thomas Nelson has organized a protest for noon Saturday at Brady and Locust streets. Anyone against the recent government spending is invited to make signs and attend.
According to MSNBC, the tax protest is inspired by CNBC reporter Rick Santelli's speech earlier this week about President Barack Obama's housing plan. The rant reportedly spurred grassroots tea party protests in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston. Protests also are popping up in small towns, including Tulsa, Iowa.
The Pajamas TV team, whose reporters include Samuel Joe Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber of the 2008 presidential campaign trail fame, has a team keeping tabs on the tea parties across the nation.
It also has information on how to host your own tea party protest, available at www.pjtv.com.
