Press release submitted by City of Bettendorf. Bettendorf and Scott County — Help Out by Going All In! In an effort to give back to the community, the City of Bettendorf and Scott County have united as one to raise money for the Quad Cities United by. Bettendorf and Scott County will be hosting a Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at The Lodge, 900 Spruce Hills Drive, Bettendorf. Doors open at 4:00 pm, and the tournament starts at 6:00 pm sharp. Last year was the first time the City of Bettendorf and Scott County worked together to help raise money for United Way. Working together seemed to work! The event hosted 234 card players and raised more than $18,000 - far surpassing original goals! This year, with a larger venue, the goal has been set at 300 card players to become one of the largest Texas Hold ‘Em competitions in the area. Tickets are $30; re-buys are $10. Tickets can be purchased at either Bettendorf City Hall (1609 State Street, Bettendorf) or the Scott County Administrative Center (600 West 4th Street, Davenport). Cash payment is preferred; checks written out to United Way will be accepted only with proof of identification. Participants must be at least 21 years old to play. First place prize includes roundtrip airfare for two to any airTran Airways destination in the continental United States along with a Texas Hold ‘Em bracelet donated by Riddles Jewelers. Second place will receive a $500 gift card for use at the DeSoto House in Galena, Illinois, a $50 gas card, and a $50 gift card for dinner at a restaurant in Galena. Third place will receive a stay at Riverside Casino and Golf Resort, a $50 gas card, and gift card for Texas Roadhouse. All winners first through eighth place will receive a prize too, and there will be other chances to win great prizes through raffles held on the night of the event. The success of this event could not be accomplished without the help from great sponsors such as Genesis at Work, airTran Airways, Sampson Construction, and the other businesses and individuals who have donated. Bettendorf and Scott County recognize the significance of working together to make the community a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Both organizations are excited about working together towards a common goal. So come on out, help a great cause, and have fun at the same time!
