    James R. Ende, 66, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Pathway Hospice, Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

    A celebration of life service will be noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Garret Gallery, 1808 7th Ave., Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice. Inurnment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements.

    Jim was born Feb. 21, 1941, in Rock Island, the son of Albert H. and Jane I. Bridges Ende. He married Susan E. Habben Jan. 1, 1996, in Quincy, Ill.

    Mr. Ende was owner/operator of Ende Roofing of the Quad-Cities for more than 50 years.

    Jim was a member of the Rock Island High School class of 1959. His memberships included Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island. Jim was an outdoors person; he enjoyed nature, camping and fishing and was a gifted and accomplished woodworker. Jim also loved to renovate older homes.

    Survivors include his wife, Susan "Sue" Ende; mother, Jane Ende, Rock Island; his children and their spouses, Angie and Bob Hamilton, Atkinson, Ron and Karen Ende, Rock Island, Terry Ende, Morrison, Debra Ende, De Soto, Mo., Curt and Ellen Mumpower, Quincy, Ill., Cathy Codd, Quincy; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters and spouse, Nancy and Larry Dean, Weslaco, Texas, Mary Benhart, Rock Island; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ende was preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Carye Sue Mumpower.

    Marie Bokon

    Marie V. Bokon, 90, of Moline, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

    Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 22, in Indiana. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of local arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.

    The former Marie V. Accoe was born April 6, 1917, in Mishawaka, Ind., the daughter of Achiel E. and Rasalie Lookens Accoe. She married Joseph L. Bokon July 2, 1938, in South Bend, Ind. He preceded her in death in 1993.

    Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jo and Sidney Sheets, Moline, and Patricia and Danny Glassburn, Loveland, Colo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph L. and Emma Bokon, South Bend. There are nine grandchildren including, Stephen (Julie) Sheets, Susie (Dave) Jacocks, Chrissie (Jason) Lopez; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Albert VanPuyvelde, Moline; and brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Helen Accoe, Wakarusa, Ind., Richard and Pauline Accoe, Dowagiac, Mich.

    Bryce Gibb

    Bryce Gibb, 92, of Moline, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

    Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Moline, with the Rev. Don Reffett officiating. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

    Bryce Curtis Gibb was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Walter and Leona Goudy Gibb. He married Fern Lewis Nov. 28, 1940, in Lancaster, Mo.

    He worked as a foreman for John Deere, retiring in 1972. Bryce was a member of Astor Masonic Lodge 505 in Albia, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, boating and collecting model cars and especially loved spending time with his family.

    Bryce is survived by his wife of 67 years, Fern; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Thomas Gawel, Sleepy Hollow, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Gibb, Dubuque, Iowa; grandchildren, Tracey Gawel, Thomas Bryce Gawel, Cathie and Mike Cissne and Julie and Jim Mecham; great-grandchildren, Mckenzie and Kyle Cissne, Nathan Meecham and Ashley Valentin; and three cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Gibb.

    Shirley Johnson

    Shirley A. Johnson, 79, of Moline, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

    Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline, where she was a member.     The former Shirley A. Hughes was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Moline, the daughter of William and Clara Brady Hughes. She married George E. Johnson Aug. 19, 1950, in Washington, D.C.

    Shirley graduated from St. Mary's High School and Radio Electronics Television Institute, Omaha, Neb.

    She was employed by Bituminous Casualty Corp. and later by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

    Gracia Casillas

    Funeral services for Gracia Y. Casillas, 92, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. The East Moline VFW 8890 Ladies Auxiliary will perform their ritual ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

    Mrs. Casillas died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

    Gracia Ysais was born Jan. 26, 1916, in Silao, GTO, Mexico, the daughter of Basilio Chagoya and Rosenda Manrrique Ysais. She married Maximino "Max" Casillas Nov. 10, 1940, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colona.

    She and her husband had been members of St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, for more than 50 years. She had been a member of the East Moline VFW 8890 Ladies Auxiliary, and she sang in the choir at St. Anne's. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. The most important thing in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren.

    Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Max Casillas, East Moline; daughters and son-in-law, Sandi and David Julius, Racine, Wis., Julie Moore, East Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Serjio and Elizabeth Casillas, Davenport, Robert and Fay Casillas, Vero Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Robin Casillas, Sergio Casillas, Michael Casillas, Christine Crisp, Lisa Smalls, Kelli VerBeke, Matt Casillas, Andrew Casillas and Sarah Julius; great-grandchildren, Max and Noah Crisp, Rachael, Bryan, Kimberly and Alyssa Casillas, Casey Bickes, Maya and Leila Smalls and Bo Casillas; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Kristen Elizabeth Julius; brothers, Ezequiel, Juan, Manual, Jose and Federico.

    Helen Mitchell

    Helen V. Mitchell, 94, of Silvis, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

    Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to service time Saturday.

    The former Helen Viola Engdale was born May 5, 1913, in Hillsdale, the daughter of Charles and Jenny Dahlheim Engdale. She married Charles Mitchell Nov. 24, 1958, in Milan. He died June 23, 1984.

    She worked at the former Josephson's Jewelry, Moline, and managed the S&H Green Stamp redemption center at McCabe's Department Store, Rock Island. She volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center in Moline.

    Survivors include nieces and nephews and their spouses, Chuck and Kathy Engdale, Dick and Judy Engdale, Roberta and John Froemke, Bob and Kristy Engdale, Lavone and Dick Slead, Joyce and Don Gillin and Tom and Carolyn Rasmussen; and several great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Arvid Engdale; and sisters, Mildred VanDaele and May Rasmussen.

    Douglas Cord

    Douglas K. Cord, 46, of Albany, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

    Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be in Cordova Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Albany Ambulance Service.

    Douglas Keith Cord was born Dec. 25, 1961, in Moline, the son of Ronald and Priscilla Cooper Cord. He owned and operated Dri-Rite Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning service. He enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing.

    Survivors include his parents, Ronald and Priscilla Cord, Moline; a brother, Matt Cord, Moline; and his grandmother, Pauline Feaster, Albany. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin, in 1977; his maternal grandfather; and his paternal grandparents.

    Reed DeBord

    Reed R. DeBord, 64, of Kansas City, Kan., formerly of East Moline and Silvis, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at the home of his daughter in Olathe, Kan.

    As he wished, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services.

    Reed was born July 7, 1943, in Moline, the son of John R. and Violet M. McCombs DeBord. He was an over-the-road truck driver and last worked for Convoy of Kansas City, Mo.

    Surviving are daughters, Michella F. Rawson, Davenport, Karen Sue Neeley, Olathe; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Also surviving is a sister, Janet M. Stromquist, Cambridge; and a good friend, David Zumaris, East Moline. His parents preceded him in death.

    Jack Hammons

    Jack R. Hammons, 79, of Kewanee, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Kewanee Hospital.

    Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Kewanee. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee, with military rites. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee.

    He was born Feb. 6, 1929. He married Alice Stead Dec. 31, 1952.

    Surviving are wife; sons, John (Tony), Milan, Steve (Jo), Kewanee, Pat (Lu), Galva, Chris (Lisa), Kewanee; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Sidney and Ruth, both of Carbondale, Ill.

    Masaru "Mush" Kojima, 75, of Albany, died Feb. 17, 2008, at home.

    He was born May 11, 1932. He married Lucille Kreuder Aug. 4, 1961. She died July 2, 1995. He married Carol McCann May 20, 2000.

    Surviving are wife; stepchildren, Alaina Rivers, Gayle (David) Thomas, Daryl (Jane) Rix; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Misako (Mitsui) Takahashi, Utah.

    Jean A. Meegan, 76, of Albany, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at home.

    She was born Nov. 8, 1931. She married George H. Meegan Dec. 1, 1951. He died Dec. 1, 2005

    Surviving are children, Pegi Cahill, Plano, Texas, Paul, South Barrington, Ill., Dan, Antioch, Ill., Kevin, Clinton, Iowa; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters.

    Irene Pashia

    Irene S. Pashia, 87, of Cordova, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

    Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, Rapids City. Burial will be in Cordova Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.

    The former Irene Susan Edelman was born July 18, 1920, in Desota, Mo., the daughter of George and Susan Neel Edelman. She married Timothy Pashia Nov. 23, 1940, in Desota.

    She had been employed at Carlon Co., Clinton, Iowa, for 15 years. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning foods. She was a loving mother, with her children being her No. 1 priority.

    Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Mike Schaab, Davenport, Elizabeth Pashia, Orion, and Mary and Randy Gilmore, Omaha, Neb.; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Marcia Pashia, Davenport; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Burt, Desota; and a brother, George Edelman, Desota. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon, in 1970; and two grandchildren.

    The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at I.R.C., to Genesis Hospice and the nurses in the O.B. Department at Genesis, Illini Campus, for the love and care given to Mrs. Pashia.

    Dorothy Peterson

    Dorothy J. Peterson, 79, of Aledo, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

    She was born July 17, 1928, in Long Grove, Iowa, a daughter of Elgy and Sophie Sindt Adams. She attended Davenport schools. She was united in marriage to Donald R. Peterson Aug. 2, 1947, in Davenport.

    Dorothy was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of their family farm.

    She was a member of the Aledo Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses. She enjoyed flower gardening, macrame, knitting, traveling, taking photos and making DVDs.

    She is survived by her husband, Donald, Aledo; a sister, Catherine Skelly, DeWitt, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Henrietta Johanson.

    Keith Peterson

    Keith E. Peterson, 83, of Kewanee, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Kewanee Care Home.

    A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Kewanee, with visitation 10 a.m. to services. Inurnment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee. Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements.

    Keith was born Aug. 12, 1924. Keith married Betty M. Carlson June 4, 1949.

    Agnes Steele

    Agnes Ann Steele, 81, of Morrison, formerly of Erie, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Morrison Community Hospital.

    Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Erie Cemetery. Gibson Funeral Home, Erie, is in charge of arrangements.

    The former Agnes Ann Bach was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Amboy, Ill., the daughter of Jacob and Esther Wagner Bach. She married Roger Steele May 22, 1944, in Sterling. He died April 7, 1969. She had been employed at General Electric, Morrison. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Erie.

    Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Yvonne and Dave Miller, Bowen, Ill., and Pamela Steele, Erie; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Norma Steele, Erie, David and Nora Steele, Silvis, and Larry and Meg Steele, East Moline; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Wilson, Amboy; and a brother, John Bach, Schaumburg, Ill. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Neahring.

    Bette Wilson

    Bette E. Wilson, 82, of Viola, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at St. John Catholic Church, Viola. Burial is in St. John Cemetery, Viola. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the church, with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. Dennison Funeral Home, Viola, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Catholic Church or Mercer County Hospital.

    She was born April 7, 1925, in Shale City, Ill., the daughter of William A. and Loretta Smith Esp. She married Anson Wilson Aug. 14, 1943, in Falmouth, Mass. He died Nov. 24, 1980.

    Bette was the unit secretary for Winola Schools. She also worked at Union Federal in Viola and as a hairdresser.

    Mrs. Wilson was very active in her church and community. As a member of St. John Catholic Church, she was on the Altar Society, where she was a past president, and also served as trustee on the Parish Council. To serve her community, Bette was a Cub Scout den mother and was a past president of the Winola PTA. Bette also enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of Chicago sports teams, supporting the Bears, Bulls and Cubs. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.

    Survivors include one daughter and spouse, Luan and John Kozelichki, Madison, Ala.; two sons and spouses, Rick and Linda Wilson, Freeport, Ill., and Curt and Candy Wilson, Sherrard; nine grandchildren (and their spouses), Jennifer (Troy) Fischer, Mitch Wilson, Ryan (Christina) Wilson, Courtney (Ken) Legendre, Carrie (Todd) Swanson, Carley Wilson and Luke, Kole and Zachary Kozelichki; nine great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ellie and Morgan Fischer, Alex and Camryn Wilson, Tess and Rowan Wilson and Drew and Carter Swanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant sister.

    Caroline Mary Allsbrow, 82, formerly of Davenport, died Feb. 16, 2008, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

    Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf, with visitation 12:30 p.m. to services. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park.

    She was born May 29, 1925. She married Ralph Allsbrow June 25, 1947. He died Oct. 14, 2003.

    Surviving are children and spouses, Christine and Scott Steele, Belleville, Jim and Lynne, Colorado, Clayton and Jane, Mississippi, Ken, Davenport; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

    Evelyn Baker

    Evelyn L. Baker, 74, of Davenport, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

    Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Rose-Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline.

    Evelyn was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Brooklyn, Iowa, to Darrell and Bethel Graham Mullen. She married James Baker Nov. 14, 1964, in Muscatine, Iowa.

    Evelyn worked for The Rock Island Argus and The Moline Dispatch as a stuffer.

    Evelyn was a member of Living Water Family Church, Davenport.

    She is survived by husband, James; daughter, Judy Baker, Moline; stepdaughter, Starr (Jaime) Ferguson, McGregor, Iowa; grandson, Tim Baker, Moline; five stepgrandchildren, Heather, Chad and Jeff Ferguson, McGregor, Iowa, Nikki and Mathew Ottinger, Virginia; brothers, Louran (Patricia) Mullen, Muscatine, Fred (Karen) Mullen, Muscatine; sister-in-law, Cora (Harold) Schumacher, Camanche, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.     Mable Bryant

    Mable Bryant, 77, of Davenport, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at home.

    Mrs. Bryant was born in 1930 to Luella and Vester Burrage. She married Delbert Bryant in 1957 in Milwaukee, Wis.

    Survivors include her husband, Delbert; and sisters, Emma Tatum, Davenport, and Walterine McDonald, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John; and a sister, Sarah Daily.

    Rita Waters, 67, of Bettendorf, died Feb. 19, 2008, in Bettendorf.

    Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Cremation rites will follow.

    Rita was born July 7, 1940. She married Robert G. Waters Sr. July 12, 1958.

    Survivors include her husband; children, Cindy (Mike) Robesky, Orlando, Fla., Robert (Pam) Jr. and Eric (LuAnn), all Davenport, Darcy Sikma, Taylor Ridge; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Shelley Mathis, Florida, and Diane Meyer, Dixon, Iowa.
