Ronald Dean Marquette, 60, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors by American Legions 569/200 and VFW Post 1303. Those wishing to attend should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, at 9:30 a.m.

He was born Feb. 22, 1947, to Virgil and Helen Marquette.

Arnold Wells

Arnold J. Wells, 78, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mary; daughters, Debra and Pam; son, Jeff; grandchildren, Derek, Josh, Heather, Zack; sister, Arlene; and brother, Harold. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ona Weimer Wells.

Maria `Malu' Arana

Maria "Malu"Arana, 22, of Moline, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Visitation will be 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, with a funeral Mass at noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Further arrangements are pending.

Raymond Eggers

Raymond Michael "Ray" Eggers, 54, of Moline, died at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, after his challenging life, and went home to be with his dad on Dec. 19, 2007.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, with a visitation one hour prior at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Ray was born Aug. 26, 1953, in Moline, to Raymond E. and Dorothy Williams Eggers. He was the first male cheerleader at Moline High School.

Before his accident, he loved to fish and hunt with his dad. At the age of 19, Ray was in a motorcycle accident and was confined to a wheelchair for 35 years. He also had to endure dialysis for 17 years.

Ray was a computer operator at the Rock Island Arsenal for 12 years. He enjoyed music and was conscientious about the environment. He also helped coach kids' baseball.

Ray was a generous, selfless, charitable and a wonderful son. He lit up a room and was always happy to be with others. His courage and bravery with his condition for 35 years was something to be admired. He loved his mother, sisters and all of his family very much.

Ray is survived by his mother, Dorothy Eggers, Moline; sisters, Paula (Gerald) Luckenbihl, Moline, Karen (Ronald) Williams, Ravenna, Mich., Marcia (William) Herr, Cleveland; brother, Walter Hedstrom, Roseburg, Ore.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Allen Schaefer, 72, of Moline died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Thomas McMullen

Thomas McMullen, 55, of East Moline, died of fibromylosis on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the mortuary with a Masonic service at 6 p.m. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.

He was born Dec. 27, 1951, in Moline, to Willard Thomas and Doris Winnie Anderson McMullen.

He was employed at John Deere Harvester as a welder, retiring Sept. 1, 2003.

He was a member of the UAW Local 865 and the Masonic Lodge in Rock Island.

Survivors include his spouse, Dixie McMullen, East Moline; daughter, Heather Hall and her children, Lindsey Muck, Alex Hall and Sydnie Hall, all of St. Robert, Mo.; son, Shawn (Beth) McMullen and their children, Kayla McMullen, Stephan Abbott and Haillee Abbott, all of Colona; mother, Doris McMullen, East Moline; sister, Sandy (Larry) Rounds, Ft. Madison, Iowa; brothers, Pat (Pam) McMullen, Sun Lakes, Ariz., Bill (Cindy) McMullen, Moline; stepchildren, Tammy (Rick) Kozma and their daughter, Katelyn, all of Plainfield, Ind., Julie (Michael) Clayton, Rockford, Ill., Julie Stradt (Gerald Edwards) and their children, Kristen, Joseph and Megan Stradt, all of Geneseo; stepson-in-law, Robert (Julie Rae) Stradt, Geneseo. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard in 1993.

Charles Mekus

Charles D. Mekus, 90, of East Moline, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Elaine Wangeline

Elaine Jeannette Wangeline, 84, of Silvis, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Private funeral services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.

Elaine Mulvey was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Marshfield, Wis., the daughter of Maurice and Caroline Schmidtke Mulvey. She married Chester Wangeline in 1942. He died March 1, 1996.

She had been a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include children, Kathleen and husband, Ken Carlson, Silvis, Patricia Larmore and special friend, Sam, Ankeny, Iowa, Chester and wife, Beth Wangeline, Moline, Thomas Wangeline and special friend, Lurene McCoy, Silvis, Kenneth and wife, Donna Wangeline, Milan; daughter-in-law, Lucy Wangeline, Santa Ana, Calif.; grandchildren, Crystal, Shannon, Sherry, Kenneth, Melissa, Joshua, Samantha and Patrick; great-grandchildren, Jason, Benjamin, Joshua, Victoria, Maxwell, Elizabeth and Olivia; great-great-grandchildren, Braylon and Silena; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Ann Mulvey, Milan; and her good friend and companion, her dog, Muffy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Rick Wangeline, who died in 2004; brother, George Mulvey; and half-sister, Joyce Ann.

Dennis L. Ball, 55, of Galva, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at his home.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private services will be held at a later date. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis was born Nov. 22, 1952, to William and Mary Ball.

He is survived by his father; son, Max, Kewanee; daughter, Erika Thompson, Springfield, Ill.; brothers, William Jr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wesley, Kewanee, and Roy, Wichita, Kan.; sister, Kathy DeGreve, Hamilton, Mont.; five grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

Margaret Kelly

Margaret C. Kelly, 60, of rural Lynn Center, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at her home.

Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa for scientific study. A Celebration of Life service is being planned for a later date. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services in Cambridge is assisting the family with arrangements.

Warren Peed

Warren R. Peed, 81, of Kewanee, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Kewanee Hospital.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee. Burial is in Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26.

He was born Jan. 5, 1926. He married Betty Jane Yordy June 14, 1948.

Surviving are his wife; children, David, Boynton Beach, Fla., Kenneth, James, Kristie Royce and Karol O'Neill, all Kewanee; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph Peed and Ruth Roberson, both Kewanee.

Linda Parker

Linda Kay Parker, 44, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, Moline.

Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to her family.

Linda was born Jan. 15, 1963, in Rock Island, to William and Wanda Branham Meeks. She married Richard L. Parker.

Linda was employed at Sbarros. She enjoyed collecting antiques and dolls. She also loved new cars.

She is survived by husband, Rick; stepdaughter, Amanda (Cory) Weissman, Colona; stepson, Michael (Jenny) Parker, Colona; daughter, Kambree Parker, Bettendorf; siblings, Brenda (Mike) Whitt, Bettendorf, Victor Meeks, Moline, Mickey (Sandy) Meeks, Virginia; in-laws, Duane and Mary Parker, Milan; many numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Juleta `Judy' Ryan

Juleta Mae "Judy" Ryan, 75, of Davenport, died Dec. 20, 2007, at Kahl Home, Davenport.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic, Dawson, Neb., with visitation 10 a.m. to services. Clark Funeral Home, Falls City, Neb., is assisting the family. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Private visitation was at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.

She was born July 8, 1932. She married Wilbrum Ryan on Sept. 10, 1949. He died Aug. 14, 1998.

Surviving are daughters, Marjorie Wilkerson, Davenport, Martha Martin, Mary Jane Schirmer, both Texas; two grandchildren; a sister.

Annetta Swanson

Annetta R. Swanson, 87, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
