Evelyn G. Engstrom, Coal Valley, will be honored at an open house in celebration of her 90th birthday Sunday, Sept. 16. Relatives and friends are invited to attend from 1 to 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2815 W. 3rd St., (Oak Glen Road), Coal Valley. No gifts, please. Evelyn was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Coal Valley, to Henry and Nellie (Kraklow) Nightingale. She married Raymond Engstrom Sept. 21, 1938. She graduated first in her class from Coal Valley High School. Evelyn retired from Moline School District after 22 years. She then went to work for Trinity Lutheran Church as the church secretary for 12 years. Evelyn is a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is the proud mother of five sons and spouses, Larry and Sandy, Randy and Bonnie, Stan and Julie and Den and Linda, all of Coal Valley. Her son, Steve, passed away in 1993. She has 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
