EAST MOLINE -- An informational seminar on funeral planning will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 14, at First Baptist Church, 4021 9 1/2 St., East Moline.

Topics will include a brief history of funeral home practices and how they operate. The seminar also will list the pros and cons of prearranging funerals, outline differences between "memorial" and funeral services, and explain ways to plan funerals.

A discussion about "what music and Scripture is appropriate" will also take place.

1989 — 25 years ago: The Rock Island/Milan School Board is asking the city to tear down Franklin School and allow the school district to pay back the estimated $100,00 cost during 10 years.
